I HATE the concept of community service that high schools and colleges use. For this exact reason. Real activism and service (that is primarily done by the oppressed out of necessity or in support of their own community) is never counted.

What we need to do is go back to traditional African communalism (notice I said communalism not communism) and poverty won’t even be an issue. We won’t need them to come and “help” us. We don’t have to continue to settle for this capitalists system where they control everything and exploit resources of the developing world. We need to look back at the ancestors, what happened to black wall street, and the Panafricanists of the 60s? We used to own our own businesses and control our own resources.
